Transitive® Ships Enterprise Application Migration Solution: QuickTransit® for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Linux®/x86-64

Hardware Virtualization Solution Available to Enterprise Data Center Managers

LOS GATOS, Calif., – November 6, 2006 – Transitive® Corporation, the leading provider of software that enables transportability of applications across multiple processor and operating system (OS) pairs, today announced the availability this month of QuickTransit® for Solaris™/SPARC®-to-Linux®/x86-64.  The new virtualization solution is the first in a series of QuickTransit software products that enable widespread application migration from Solaris/SPARC legacy hardware to new open source, industry-standard platforms.  Enterprise customers are now able to rapidly retire obsolete IT infrastructure and replace it with more powerful and cost-effective modern platforms, while extending the useful life of key applications.  With QuickTransit technology, they can achieve data center migration and consolidation without the need for any source code or binary modifications.

“QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/x86-64 targets the most common enterprise software migration path — moving from older Solaris/SPARC hardware to the latest x86-based platforms,” said Ian Robinson, vice president of marketing for Transitive.  “QuickTransit makes these highly rewarding migrations fast, easy, and comprehensive, with minimal disruption to end users and without the risks and burdens of traditional recoding or porting approaches.”

Beta releases of QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/x86-64 have been tested at more than 50 customer sites worldwide, spanning a variety of industry sectors, including financial services, telecommunications, defense and government organizations. Several of these customer sites have applications on more than 1000 legacy SPARC servers that are targeted for migration to more powerful and cost-effective industry-standard platforms.

Pricing and Availability
QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/x86-64 will be available this month as an annual subscription license, which includes standard customer support and is priced at $875 per socket on the target system (where sockets represent the number of physical sockets on the system motherboard that are populated with a processor). When deployed within a virtual machine, such as when used with VMware or XenSource products, the QuickTransit pricing is based on a virtual CPU rather than a physical socket.

Upon its release, QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC-to-Linux/x86-64 will be downloadable for evaluation or purchase from the Transitive web site (www.transitive.com), and it will also be available through Transitive’s global channel partners, which include MSI Systems Integrators, Inc.( www.msiinet.com) and Zot (www.zot.com ) in North America) and Networld Corporation (www.networld.co.jp) in Japan.

About Transitive Corporation
Transitive is a pioneer and leader in providing solutions that allow the transportability of software applications across multiple hardware platforms. The company’s QuickTransit hardware virtualization solution allows software applications that have been compiled for one processor/operating system to run on another without any source code or binary changes and at speeds comparable to native ports. QuickTransit allows data center managers to transport legacy enterprise applications quickly and easily from outdated, proprietary hardware to modern, industry-standard platforms without incurring the costs and delays of porting projects, and with no disruption to end users. QuickTransit also facilitates computer companies’ migration to new hardware platforms; dramatically reduces software developers’ cost, risk, and time-to-market in supporting multiple hardware platforms; and makes significantly more software available for more hardware platforms. QuickTransit technology provides the engine for Apple’s Rosetta translation software and is currently shipping on all of Apple’s Intel-based computers.

“ The advantages of the virtualization trend are many and varied, but many datacenters may be forced to launch multiple virtualization strategies or expensive porting projects to account for the multiple platforms they maintain. Cross-platform virtualization eliminates this obstacle, allowing datacenters to take a single, simple approach to virtualization that delivers the maximum benefits from initiatives related to server consolidation, disaster recovery, energy efficiency, and legacy migration. By enabling immediate software migration to chosen strategic server platforms, we believe that Transitive can help eliminate much of the difficulty and expense that companies face when upgrading hardware.”
